Before I tell you what open your eyes Kenya initiative is, ponder about these questions. Have you ever thought of how the visually challenged adapt without using the internet? Have you ever wondered how blind students in campus do their research when they are told to conduct a research using a particular website as a source? The answers to these questions reveal the challenges that visually challenged students undergo. Some of the questions have been answered by Susan a visually impaired girl through this You tube video.

Kenya’s leading mobile phone operator Safaricom is one of the most innovative companies in Africa. Safaricom has invested millions of money in developing a website that will be accessed by the visually impaired (the blind) students.   The website will help the blind students cope with the challenges that they undergo in this digital generation.

Open Your Eyes Kenya aims at empowering over 300,000 Kenyans who are visually impaired.  It is an initiative that might be one of its own kind in the world. The open your eyes Kenya initiative’s website is likely to attract a high traffic in the near future.
